September 26 is the National Statistics Day or HSN since its inception in 1996. Since then, BPS began from the center to the district level to commemorate HSN on September 26 every year. This is no exception for the BPS of Deli Serdang Regency. Together with four neighboring kabupaten / kota BPS offices, HSN alert and capacity building were held at Woong Rame on 26 September 2018.
At the commemoration ceremony, the speech of the Head of BPS was conveyed by the ceremony coach. In his speech, the Head of the Indonesian BPS BPS advised that this year's HSN theme, With Data to Improve National Achievement, could be truly implemented in carrying out mandates and tasks at BPS. He also advised to continuously improve the quality of the data produced and maintain independence because statistical data and information are the basis for making the right target planning, monitoring and evaluating and seeing the development achievements.
In addition, the Head of BPS advised that he pay attention to efforts to maintain credibility and improve the quality of BPS data with Independence, Innovation and Communication. Independence means that BPS must be able to maintain the trust that has been given so far, both from the central level to the regions, whenever and wherever in any situation or pressure. Innovation is also very much needed in the era of Industry 4.0 by using technology that has been very rapidly developing. Communicating data to the public is also needed so that ordinary people can be statistically literate. This communication can be done by learning and sharing about statistics on social media, print media, and other media. Communication like this is aimed primarily at millennial generations so that statistical literacy can increase. In the end, the Head of BPS expressed his gratitude to all BPS statistics personnel in trying to maintain credibility and improve the quality of BPS data.
At the end of the memorial service, rewards or awards were given to the employees and best partners of the BPS in Deli Serdang Regency. Reward is given in order to appreciate the performance to encourage bureaucratic reform.
After the commemoration ceremony, the event continued with capacity building followed by all officials and staff in the four kabupaten / kota BPS offices. This capacity building aims to improve human resource capacity such as concentration, cooperation, honesty and to refresh from work routines.
