Abstract

North Sumatra's poverty rate decreased by 0.13 points, from 9.14 percent in September 2020 to 9.01 percent in March 2021. This poverty rate is equivalent to 1.34 million people in March 2021, or decreased by around 13 thousand people in March 2021. one last semester.
  • The percentage of poor people in March 2021 in urban areas was 9.15 percent, and in rural areas it was 8.84 percent. Urban areas decreased by 0.10 points, while rural areas decreased by 0.18 points compared to September 2020.
  • The Poverty Line in March 2021 was recorded at Rp. 525,756,-/capita/month with the composition of the Food Poverty Line of Rp. 395.104,- (75.15 percent) and the Non-Food Poverty Line of Rp. 130,652,- or about (24.85 percent).
  • In the period September 2020 – March 2021, the Poverty Depth Index (P1) and Poverty Severity Index (P2) showed a decline. P1 from 1.599 in September 2020 to 1.522 in March 2021, and P2 from 0.453 to 0.376. This indicates that the average expenditure of the poor tends to increase and is getting closer to the poverty line, and the level of disparity in expenditure between the poor is slightly reduced.
