NUSANTARA TOURISTS: IMPORTANT ROLES IN LEISURE ECONOMY ERA IN INDONESIA

In the current leisure economy era, the tourism sector is one of the most important sectors. In the leisure economy, the economic pattern of society tends to shift from "goods based consumtion" to durable experience-based consumption. For example vacation, stay in hotel, eat or hang out in cafe, plesiran, visit new sights, and others. This economic pattern shift needs to be seen by the government to be able to map it in policy making, especially in the tourism sector.

The government needs basic data on the tourism. Fulfillment of data needs is done by BPS by conducting a survey named Tourist Survey Nusantara 2018 with the scope of domestic tourists. Although domestic tourists do not generate foreign exchange for the country directly, but the domestic tourists can turn other sectors such as transportation, hotels, creative industries and so forth. Nusantara tourist data will be used later to determine the direction and policy of the government in increasing the number of domestic tourists, tourism area management, even to the tourism promotions that not only attract tourists, but also foreign tourists.

In the data collection, BPS has conducted training to officers before enumeration. This is done so that officers can understand the concepts and definitions and can also explain to the respondents about this survey. Respondents are also expected to provide correct data given the importance of this data. The enumerator's task has been given tips for respondents to provide the data.
