GRAIN TO RICE CONVERSION SURVEY 2018

One of the basic human needs is food. In Indonesia, the provision of adequate food is a state obligation in accordance with Law No. 18 of 2012 on Food. Formulation of policy by government in fulfilling requirement of food data, especially in the case of development of agricultural facilities and infrastructure, government need statistical data of food as main reference. One of the data required in the formulation of the food policy is production in the form of rice. The calculation of rice production is done by using the conversion rate of dry milled rice (GKG) to rice.

The survey conducted by BPS for the provision of food data is the Rice-Paddy Conversion Survey (SKGB). The objective of this survey is to obtain the drying conversion rate from Crop Flour Mill (GKP) to Grain Dried Milled (GKG) and milling conversion numbers from GKG to rice used in the calculation of rice production data.

SKGB 2018 will be conducted in two phases, namely March-April 2018 representing the rainy season and in May-August 2018 represents the dry season. With this, it is expected to make the data obtained can be more accurate than previous SKGB which is only done in the dry season.

Survey officers are BPS organic employees and partners who have been trained previously on 18-28 February 2018. Training is provided so that officers can know the usefulness, instruments, concepts and definitions, and tactics in facing challenges that will appear on the field.
